R.E.P. – Ksenia Gnylytska, Nikita Kadan, Zhanna Kadyrova, Lesia Khomenko, Volodymyr Kuznetsov, Lada Nakonechna

The Orange Revolution in Ukraine was not just a political manifestation, a boycott of the rigged voting results. Surprisingly, it was the beginning of social movements and – interestingly – also artistic ones. The atmosphere of revolution and upheaval strongly influenced the young. The possibility of gaining freedom of artistic expression which came with the Orange Revolution brought on the formation of the R.E.P. group.

The members of the group, completely unknown by that time, have quickly become a major voice of the young generation of artists of Ukraine. Since 2006 the members have been: Ksenia Gnylytska, Nikita Kadan, Zhanna Kadyrova, Lesia Khomenko, Volodymyr Kuznetsov, Lada Nakonechna. It is with them that the Ukrainian art of the last decade is identified. Both R.E.P. and the artists who form the group are extremely active – they take part in the most important presentations of contemporary art, such as the Venice Biennale, Lyon Biennale, Tel Aviv or Moscow Biennale, exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), the Pinakothek (Munich), ZKM (Karlsruhe), MUMOK (Vienna), as well as in the Warsaw Zachęta, MSN and the Ujazdowski Castle.

The exhibition at Labirynt Gallery is the first presentation of the group in Poland on such a scale and size; it covers both works created in cooperation among the group as well by the individual members of the group.

The exhibition is opened until 11th January 2015 (Tuesday-Sunday, 12 a.m. – 7 p. m., free entry)
