In his works Andriy Helytovych focuses on what he is dealing with right here and right now – the process itself is more important than its outcome and the video footage of his performances are rather their documentation than art pieces. The performer searches for places which can inspire him by their history, architecture, specifics – such as the Litewski Square during its renovation or a dog run in the Czechów district. Helytovych gives them new meanings and creates additional contexts. The exhibition presents footage performances pieces which took place during his six months stay in Lublin within the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s programme Gaude Polonia.

Andriy Helytovych (born 1989, Lviv, Ukraine) – a graduate of the Lviv Academy of Fine with a diploma in Monumental Painting (2014). He has been doing performance art since 2015, being active especially in public space.

The pieces on show have been executed within the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s Gaude Polonia scholarship fund.
