Małgorzata Pawlak (born 1991 in Opole Lubelskie) is the last year’s graduate of Painting at the UMCS Faculty of Arts (diploma supervised by Professor Jacek Wojciechowski). The first solo exhibition of the artist, entitled Bez obrazy, is going to present her recent works executed between 2015 and 2017: paintings, objects and painting installations. Pawlak’s works are a reflection on the essence of painting and being a painter. The manifestations of her search in the field of art are physical interferences in the works’ matter, which have been scratched, frayed or bent in some places. The artist experiments with the form, using fresh ideas to solve traditional painting problems such as colour, light texture. Pawlak’s actions include humorous elements such as puns or formal interventions on a humorous note.
