The exhibition organized by Galeria Labirynt in Lublin and Arsenał Gallery in Białystok is a result of the reflection on the geographical location of both cities in the vicinity of the state border which is simultaneously the border of the EU. This new „iron curtain” is a significant, but not the only, reference point for the exhibition. The reality is dynamic and the events of the recent years have provided us with numerous new contexts. The war in the Eastern Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, the influx of refugees fleeing from the war and terror, the increase in the nationalistic moods in many European countries are the most important ones.
