Paradoxes of availability – Paweł Brożyński

Making the public space available to various social actors constitutes one of the most important assumptions of Krzysztof Wodiczko’s artistic activity. Availability seems to be the prerequisite for constructing public domain however, contrary to appearances, availability itself does not preclude exclusion. The lecture – and the artist’s work ‘Leninplatz-Projektion’ (East Berlin, 1990) – will be the occasion to examine the paradoxes of entering common social space suggested by the artist himself in the structure of his work.
