A REVOLUTION IS NOT A DINNER, OR MAYBE IT IS A DINNER – a performative installation – 50 women and 2 men were invited to a round table in order create a feminist archive for the future. During such woman civic panel, its participants are going to talk about their heroines, important female characters. We want to commemorate these characters, building an alternative her-story.

The event refers to “Dinner Party”, a famous work of Judy Chicago, and the almost unknown ceramic work of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, as well as to the Polish Round Table Talks from 1989 attended by 50 men and 2 women.

Artistic actions are aimed at showing the exclusion of women from the canon of history. The round table, which is a symbol of the transformation of society from communist to democratic, was all masculine. Anna Baumgart reverses proportions in the debate that is a step to build a strong women’s alliance. The one that will be able to look deeper and more clearly into the values we need nowadays.
