In today’s highly secularized society, is the fear of death anything more than trivial discomfort which we tend to easily appease by immersing ourselves in a stream of virtual sensations provided by the multimedia gadgets, or spending more and more money on aesthetic medicine? Is anyone today still able to ponder over the posthumous fate of their personal, unique consciousness, of which a skull – an object as beautiful as pathetic – is the final and such a meaningful shelter?

Relating to themes of the ultimate, Deadly Serious Exhibition inevitably revolves around symbols typically associated with the “end” – hence the motives chrysanthemums, ruins and skeletons.
