”Satiated Lions” – Łukasz Głowacki

An exhibition ”Satiated Lions” is inspired by the scene from the biblical parable about Daniel in a lions’ cave. Why are lions so merciful? – asks the artist – Are they satiated or maybe bored? Are they a part of God’s plan? I perceive their satiation ambiguously, even though it is non-theological.

Łukasz Głowacki in his art takes up mainly existential motifs. His works are the result of reflection on human condition and a human being’s ethicality. Głowacki is also interested in the status of an artwork, which is undefined and inalienable. An attempt to understand image and grasp its sense is a constant point of reference to his contemplation of the world.

Łukasz Głowacki (b. in 1964) studied at the Department of Painting and Graphic Art of Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Sztuk Plastycznych in Gdańsk. He deals with painting and performance art. He also makes objects and installations. In 2000 he received  an honorary award at the Eastern Salon of Art in Lublin. He took part in numerous collective exhibitions and exhibited individually as well.
