Let’s sign out of fascism

We cross borders of art, communication barriers, and mental limitations. All those strongly opposing intolerance and lack of critical thinking are invited to a series of meetings with “against fascism” motto. We offer to spend time together with creative, open, and energetic people.

We would like to invite you to “Let’s sign out of fascism” workshop on the basics of Polish sign language. The idea of the workshop is primarily to learn the basics of sign language enabling contact with the Deaf. We are going to talk about the principles of communication with the Deaf, learn about the elements of Deaf Culture. There is going to be a chance to learn Polish sign language signs for: freedom, equality, democracy, tolerance, and many others.

The workshop is going to be led by Ewelina Lachowska, a Polish sign language interpreter. She gives workshops on the basics of communication with the Deaf and the ability to communicate in sign language. She cooperates with Likejon foundation, which offers online translations, and implements projects aimed at increasing the accessibility of various areas for the Deaf. She has translated various conferences, galas, workshops, and exhibition openings. For several years, she has been interpreting events organised by Sztukmistrze foundation. She has been cooperating among others with Galeria Labirynt, Centre for the Meeting of Cultures, Lublin City Office.

The workshop is aimed for youth and adults. Meeting is going to be carried out in Polish.

Participation fee: PLN 5 per person, the gallery provides all necessary materials.

In order to participate in the workshop, you have to receive a return email from the organiser confirming the reservation (regarding registration by e-mail). Applications are accepted until 4:00 p.m. on the day before the workshop or until the list is full.
