In the mid-1980s Karamustafa started to create collages using coloured decorative fabrics hung on the wall. The artist chose fabrics from the marketplace in Istanbul, but the motifs, including Elvis Presley and young women posing on motorcycles, reflect the universal predilection for the pop-culture imaginarium, expressing the desire for a different and better life. Karamustafa made her collages almost fetishistic, placing them in golden frames. The ornamental fabrics assumed the role previously played at homes by icons. Double Jesus and the Baby Antelope intensifies this sensation by adding a figure of Jesus, which when doubled loses its exceptional character.
