The audio work draws attention to behaviour of nationalist that underlies the history and culture of modern nations. The national anthem reflects the nationalist foundation of the state. Łukasz Horbów overlaps national anthems of ten most populous European countries, thus creating a new, disturbing and cacophonic song. Despite this procedure, the characteristic features of a national anthem have been preserved and even enhanced – solemn, raised mood and pathos that turn into a tone of aggression. The artist notes that instead of references to unity and friendship with other countries, anthems emphasise the superiority of a given country over others, and by creating its own anthem, he calls for creation of an inter-state community. This work raises the question of the extent to which civic education is based on nationalist behaviour and aggression.
