About event

A two-year cultural project has started its journey in Europe, under the title “IMPROVISA – Life in Motion”. Its aim is to increase access to culture and heritage for the younger audiences and communities who have a difficulty in accessing museums, such as immigrants or people living in remote areas. Through the exploration and development of improvisation models and interaction tools, using digital and mobile technologies, new proposals for innovative and participative art-based activities will emerge, enabling the (re)interpretation of culture and the enhancement of intercultural dialogue.

The project is a result of the collaboration of five European organizations: Documenta Creaciones Multimedia Avanzadas SL in Barcelona (Spain) as the program co-ordinator, ECCOM in Rome (Italy), National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) in Athens (Greece), Galeria Labirynt in Lublin (Poland) and National Museum of Contemporary History (ΜNZS) in Ljubljana (Slovenia). It is funded by the European Commission through the Creative Europe program and in particular by the Culture Sub-programme “Support for European cooperation projects 2020 EACEA-32-2019 – Smaller scale cooperation projects (COOP1)”. The duration of the IMPROVISA project is from October 2020 until October 2022.

Among its goals are: (a) the promotion of cross-border and intersectoral mobility and exchange of knowledge between artists, museum professionals, ICT specialists and experts in audience development, (b) the development of new skills for artists and personnel οf the collaborating organizations, (c) the dissemination of the methodology and the use of the IMPROVISA Mobile App in the educational community.

During the IMPROVISA project the following will be realized: an artists’ call succeeded by Artists’  Residencies that  will be held in three cities (Athens, Ljubljana, Lublin); a creative Co-Lab for the development of art-based activities; the implementation of these activities in 72 workshops in the three participating museums; the development of the IMPROVISA Mobile App and a Digital Toolkit for teachers and students so that they can use the App on their own and explore new ways of interacting with art.

IMPROVISA is a collaborative project under continuous development. An IMPROVISA website is currently being created where you will be able to find further information on the project. You may also follow it on social media: facebook.com/Improvisaproject and instagram.com/improvisa_project .
