[CANCELLED] Q-booxs

The next meeting of the Q-booxs open discussion club will take place on November 5. This time, we are going to discuss the autobiographical collection of essays on culture and radical history Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning by Cathy Park Hong (Polish translation by Aga Zano). The questions about the contemporary Asian-American identity, the author’s experiences and how they can be translated into the experiences of queer people in Lublin will serve as a starting point for the discussion. We will talk about the “fissures” of society and how exclusion can, quite surprisingly, be a uniting force.

You do not need to read the book to actively participate in the meeting, we do, however, encourage you to read it!

Cathy Park Hong – born in 1976 in Los Angeles. Poet, academic, daughter of Korean immigrants. She coined the phrase “minor feelings” as an expression of the experience of coming to terms with one’s own roots. She tells stories about growing up, friendships, depression, prejudice and discrimination, about political shame and trail-blazing women in the cultural world.

Anastas Krusińska (changeable pronouns) – cultural animator, co-curator of the Let’s Start The Revolution short film competition. She works at the Azyl Library collective, where she runs the Q-booxs book club and Queer Circles. In his spare time, he creates zines (QUEERZ GET ZINNED, 2024) and scribbles poetry. He has been recently published in the first Polish anthology of slam poems, DYMY (2024).
