Current Value. Lublin is a new chapter in my long-term project Current Value, which I began in 2022. The project has no final version. Each exhibition emerges in a new place and naturally extends the previous one. Every city shapes the direction of the work through its archives, architecture, urban landscape, and unexpected discoveries.
In Lublin, I explored the city’s visual language—symbols, signs, and architectural details preserved from different historical periods. I am interested in how these images continue to exist and change their meaning over time.
Lublin became important to me as a place where Polish, Jewish, and Ukrainian histories intersect. Their traces are still embedded in the city’s urban fabric.
This work continues a line of research that began in Odesa, where I explored the city’s catacombs—an underground space where, during the Second World War, people found shelter, lived, and continued their education. Today, shelters have once again become part of our reality. Although Lublin offers a different historical context, it brought me back to the same questions: how memory survives through material traces, and how contemporary art can reinterpret them.
Project implemented as part of the Gaude Polonia scholarship programme.
