About event
Artists in Ukraine can benefit from humanitarian aid, but the creative life there does not end, and they need art materials, which are in short supply. Art and the creative process for many is one way to survive. The gathering aims to collect art materials that will be donated to art centres in Ukraine.
You are welcome to bring art materials to the Gallery during the gathering and we will take care of donating them.
Beginning: 8/02/2023 (Wednesday)
Ending: 28/02/2023 (Tuesday)
Main gathering point: Galeria Labirynt, ul. Popiełuszki 5
What do we collect?
Oil paints, acrylic paints, watercolour paints, spray paints, canvases (up to A2 format), paper canvas, all media, pigments, varnishes and fixatives, sketchbooks, brushes, painting accessories, pencils, graphites, charcoals, inks, crayons, pastels, accessories and paints for printmaking, art compounds and accessories for sculpting.
The action accompanies the project “The Sky Is Open. Voices From Ukraine”, which is a digital archive of works created after February 24, 2022, by artists from Ukraine. The initiative aims to support artists who, despite the full-scale war, want to stay in the country while it is in danger – many of them help refugees and internally displaced people, rebuild destroyed homes, organise activities for refugee children. But they also create artworks that bear witness to a time of war. Our aim is to support them and their work during this difficult time and to present art that is being made in Ukraine now. We are committed to presenting work that is being created in a situation that most of us have never experienced.
By collaborating with the organisations and institutions that have joined the project, we can reach out to more artists.
