About event

There was a transgender writer living in Poland in the 19th century, who spoke openly about his identity. Why is he so little talked about now despite popularity in earlier years? Why did he start to be described as “a feminist who, claiming to be a man, fought for his place among the Young Poland artists’ community”?
We would like to invite you to a lecture “Piotr Odmieniec-Włast – on queerness and transgenderism in 19th century Poland”. Lecture’s content include topics such as sexual abuse and attempted suicide in regard to the writer’s biography.

When: 19/08/2023 (Saturday), 4:00–6:00 pm
Where: Azyl Library (former Galeria Labirynt | Plaza), ul. Lipowa 13, Lublin (entrance from ul. Ofiar Katynia)
Accessibility: The event is held on the ground floor in a space free from architectural barriers.
