He was born in 1939 in Vilnius; he died in 2015 in Wrocław.
Over the period 1957–1960, he studied at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, and then from 1961 to 1965, at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław under the supervision of Stanisław Dawski. He graduated in 1965. He worked in the fields of photography, film, video, painting, drawing, graphics as well as theoretical texts and poetry. He was one of the leading representatives of the Polish neo-avant-garde in the formulation of medialism.
