Galeria Labirynt

About event

As a part of the first residency of Curort Vieniava, Monika Maurycy invites all interested individuals to collective sewing and embroidering. Together, we will create the “Garland of Pride”, a colourful chain made of fabrics decorated with embroidery, built from interconnected links. They can be of any shape, colour, texture, size. The only requirement is that they should be connected to one another. The Garland will symbolise openness to all people, respect for diversity as well as the power of being part of a group and a social network that allows to be together.

The Garland will be carried in the Lublin Equality March and after the end of the residency it will be placed in the Curort Vieniava (non)exhibition space.

We invite you to join creating the Garland. You can come alone or in company during gallery opening hours. You do not need to know how to sew or embroider – Monika will oversee your work, and her sewing machine will be available for your use. The project is created in the spirit of upcycling, so it is great if you can bring your own fabrics (e.g. clothes you no longer need) as well as various accessories for decorating, such as beads, sequins or other sewing ornaments. If you do not have such tools, do not worry, you will also find necessary materials on-site.

When are we operating?
The workshop space is open on 26–27/08 and 29/08–1/09, between 12 and 6 p.m., i.e. from Saturday to next Friday, excluding Monday. On September 2 we meet in the Galeria Labirynt at 12 p.m. and walk with the Garland to the Equality March.
