ACCESSIBILITY OF GALLERIA LABIRYNT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Galeria Labirynt is an institution open to all audiences, regardless of age, origin or degree of disability. Accessibility is an important area of our programme, which is why we strive to prepare our activities implementing the idea of universal design, that is, in a way accessible for everyone. We want to ensure that our staff members also develop their awareness in area of accessibility, which is why a majority of our Programme Department has taken part in a course carried out by Culture Without Barriers Foundation.

– a regular entrance fee for exhibitions and workshops at Galeria Labirynt costs PLN 1, entrance is free of charge for people with disabilities and their assistants
– we cooperate with sworn sign language interpreters in organisation of curatorial guided tours, workshops, discussions, and film screenings
– each exhibition opening and selected events are interpreted into Polish sign language
– exhibitions are accompanied by materials to facilitate the reception of the presented works (such as tactile diagrams and special flat-printed materials)
– educational workshops and exhibition guided tours can be supplemented with live visual descriptions carried out by our educators
– assistance dogs are welcome in the gallery (similarly to other animals)

Galeria Labirynt headquarters (ul. Popiełuszki 5) and Galeria Labirynt | Plaza (ul. Lipowa 13) are located on the ground floor where almost all events happen, however, there are slight differences in levels that are levelled by ramps. Galeria Labirynt 2 (ul. Grodzka 5) can be accessed through two high steps, it also has exhibition spaces at -1 level accessed through winding stairs.

Floorplan of Galeria Labirynt building at ul. Popiełuszki 5 can be downloaded from the website (Galeria Labirynt Floorplan).

HOW TO GET TO GALERIA LABIRYNT, UL. POPIEŁUSZKI 5

You can get to the Gallery using public transport services of Public Transport Authority in Lublin (ZTM). According to the information of ZTM, bus lines that stop near the building at ul. Popiełuszki 5 are operated by low-floor buses (lines 4, 11, 13 15, 55 in full, line 2 on Saturdays and Sundays).

Three bus stops that are closest to the gallery are: Galeria Labirynt 01, Galeria Labirynt 02 and Głowackiego 01. From Galeria Labirynt 01 and Galeria Labirynt 02 bus stops you can get to the institution through safe pedestrian crossings with traffic lights, sound signalling and lowered curbs. The route from Głowackiego 01 bus stop leads through one pedestrian crossing with traffic lights and sound signalling and one crossing without any signalling. The road also leads through the sidewalk which is damaged, so it can be difficult to move around it at a wheelchair.

We can provide an assistant who will come to the bus stop and support the person in reaching the gallery. If you need assistance, please call us at +48 81 466 59 20 int. 32.

You can drive directly to the Gallery building by car from ul. Popiełuszki. Next to the building there is a parking with a parking space marked in blue. It measures 360 cm (depth) x 620 cm (length). The space between the parking space and the path leading to the entrance is filled with gravel, which can make it difficult to move on a wheelchair. It is possible to drive and stop directly at the entrance to the gallery.
